What Is Schoology?
Schoology (pronounced school-ogy) is an online tool that manages curriculum, assessments, grading and other classroom management tasks and is also a communication platform for educators and students in K-12.
Parents may have an account that can be linked with their children's accounts. When parents log in, they will see a Facebook-like interface that links them to the District Schoology page as well as the school pages where their children attend and each child's classroom.
This tool will be an integral part of how teachers design and implement their lesson plans, assignments and grades. They will use it to post updates to their class and communicate with parents. Parents will be able to see what their children are working on and have access to their grades through Schoology.

Schoology also has a convenient mobile app that can be downloaded and used on mobile phones, tablets, and iPads! This app can be found in the Google Play and iTunes stores.

Q: Do parents have to set up their own accounts?
A: Yes, parents/guardians need to register for their own accounts in Schoology. When parents register to create their own accounts in Schoology, part of the registration process is to enter in your child’s access code. Schoology uses this access code to associate your parent account with Buckeye Valley's Schoology portal and to link your new parent account with your child.
Q: Do I need to set up an account for my child?
A: No. All active Buckeye Valley students automatically have a Schoology account. They can log in at https://bvls.schoology.com using their school Gmail account username and password.
Q: I don’t understand what my child’s access code is for?
A: Schoology creates a unique access code for each student account. The purpose of this access code is to allow parents to link their personal Schoology account with that of their child(ren).
Q: How do I get my child’s access code?
A: Parent letters with your child’s access code are sent home from each school at the beginning of the school year. If you did not receive a letter or have lost the code, you can request it from the Technology Department. Please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Q: Why do I need my child’s access code to set up my parent Schoology account?

Q: When going through the registration process, do I enter in my child’s name in the box?
A: No, when registering for your parent Schoology account, you enter in your information in the box, not your child’s. Your child already has a Schoology account. Schoology will use the information you’ve entered in to associate your new parent account with the Buckeye Valley Local Schools Schoology portal and to link your new parent account with your child.
Q: How do I register for a parent account?
A: Use the following steps to register for your parent account:
- In your browser, navigate to www.schoology.com.
- In the top right corner of the screen, click the Sign Up button.
- Select Parent from the options
- Enter the Access Code for your child that was emailed or sent home from their school.
- Fill out the information for your new Schoology account (your email address and the password you want to use for your Schoology account) and click “Register.”
Q: Do I create a parent account for each of my children?
A: No, if you have multiple children, you create a single parent account with 1 child’s code. After you have created your account, you can link the rest of your children to your account within Schoology by clicking on the arrow in the top left corner by your name and selecting +Add Child. Enter in another child’s code in the box, click “USE CODE” and they will now be linked to your account. You can link each child in your family to your account in this manner.
Q: How do I log in once I have created my Schoology parent account?
A: Parents will log into Schoology by visiting www.schoology.com whereas students will access Schoology by visiting mevsd.schoology.com. You can also use the buttons on our district home page at www.buckeyevalley.k12.oh.us
Q: What do I do if I forget my parent password to Schoology?
A: Go to www.schoology.com and click the Login button, Select the 'Forget your password?' link. Complete the form and a password reset link will be sent to your personal email account.

What is a snapcode?
The snapcode is like a key to your child's data for the upcoming school year. You will receive a unique snapcode for each child. Make sure you enter it exactly as it appears above, with no spaces or punctuation. The snapcode is case sensitive.
Create an Account:
If you've never completed an online form with InfoSnap, you will need to create an InfoSnap Account. This allows you to securely save your work and come back at a later time if necessary. You can use your email address or cell phone number. Watch the video tutorial below.
Review and update information:
Review the Introduction page and click “Next >” to enter forms.
The forms are pre-populated with information on file in our system.
Required questions are marked in red.
Use the “< Prev” or “Next >” buttons to move between pages.
Clicking “Next->” on the final page will take you to the Review & Submit page.
What if I make a mistake?
If you would like to make a change, prior to submitting the form, you can either navigate back to the page using the "< Prev" or "Next >" buttons. If you are on the Review page, click on the underlined field. If you have already submitted the form, you will need to contact your child's school so the secretarial staff can make the changes for you.
Completing the form:
Once you have finished reviewing and updating your information, click "Submit." This will send all of the information you've entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, please review your child’s information as you need to make sure that you have answered all the REQUIRED questions. TIP: Look for the items that are marked in red.
On the Submission Confirmation page, you may choose to print a copy of the submitted form. You will also be given the option to download additional forms.
What if I have more than one child in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes, because you'll need to provide information that is specific to each child. We recommend that you complete and submit one form and then start another - this will allow you to "snap" (or share) selected family information, which saves you time.
PowerSchool Tutorial For Parents
Where do I find the PowerSchool access code for my student?
PowerSchool Access codes are emailed out each school year. Please contact your child's school office to request the PowerSchool login letter which will have your unique code and step-by-step directions on how to create your PowerSchool account and add your children.
What Information will I find in PowerSchool?

What is the difference between PowerSchool and Schoology?
PowerSchool is the district Student Information System which holds all student demographic information and grades of record. Schoology is a Learning Management System that is used for students to obtain information and resources for learning which is posted by their teachers. Students can also take tests in Schoology and submit assignments if assigned by the teacher.
