Dear Buckeye Valley Families,

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) extended nationwide waivers permitting the operation of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) through Dec. 31, 2020, due to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Because of the extension of SSO, breakfast, and lunch are now free for everyone attending school at one of our buildings through the rest of this calendar year, and we now have been provided the opportunity to help families in our community whose students attend Buckeye Valley Schools with free breakfast and lunch for those that could use the help while their students are doing the remote portion of their school week or are enrolled in BVDOO.  We can provide this service through the remainder of the calendar year (12/31/20).

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please complete this form:  BVLS Meal Pre-Order Form.  The form can also be accessed through the District website on the food service page located under the administration drop-down menu on our home page. This form must be completed weekly by the dates and times listed below and if you have multiple children you would like meals for, you must complete a new form for each student.

  • This form must be submitted by 9am on Tuesdays for Cohort A

  • This form must be submitted by 9am on Fridays  for Cohort B

  • This form must be submitted by 9am on Fridays for  BVDOO Students.

Meal packs will contain for each student 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches for Cohort A and B students and 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches for our BVDOO students. Meals can be distributed in one of two ways, and you must indicate this on the form you complete.  First, your child can take the meals home with them from school on Tuesdays (cohort A) or Fridays (cohort B), or you can take advantage of our curbside pickup on Fridays.  Our locations and times for the curbside pick up are as follows (however they could be subject to change based on demand):

  • Buckeye Valley Middle School - Friday pickup from 3 pm-5 pm

  • Buckeye Valley East Elementary School - Friday pickup from 4 pm-6 pm

  • Buckeye Valley West Elementary School - Friday pickup from 4 pm-6 pm

If you have any questions please contact Stacy Peterson, at speterson@mybvls.org or (740)363-6626 ext 3142, or Jeremy Froehlich at foodservicehelp@mybvls.org to make other arrangements.

For the menus please go to myschoolmenus.com. Simply type in Buckeye Valley and then you can pick which school you would like to view from the drop down menu. There is lots of information on this website located in the menu “sidebar”.  Links to PaySchoolsCentral to fill out the Free & Reduced lunch applications and/or make online payments for your students (which is highly recommended to cut down on money exchanging hands).  The menus are broken down into Cohort A and Cohort B. Please refer to your specific cohort for up to date information.

If your student was on the Free and Reduced lunch program during the 19/20 school year, a new application will need to be completed prior to October 1st.  An application is attached to this letter to print and fill out. It can be mailed back to me, scanned and emailed to me. Or the link to the application is located on our website www.buckeyevalley.k12.oh.us or on the myschoolmenus.com mentioned above.  Or we do have paper copies that can be mailed to you or sent home with your student(s).

Breakfast is served daily in all 4 buildings! High School and Middle School start serving at 7:20am and the elementary schools at 9:15am. The cost is $1.75 for High and Middle and $1.50 at the elementary level. Reduced price is $.30.

Lunch prices are for the High and Middle School students $3.00 and Elementary students $2.75. Reduced price is $.40.

Snacks and beverages.  For the first few weeks, there will be no snack sales in the cafeteria. There will be, however, self serve beverages as in the past at the High School and Middle School.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we all work through this period of adjustment together! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Thank you and welcome back!!
